Workin it, Workin it...

I had a little set back recently. My husband had some health issues so, my work was set aside (naturally) until I felt that he was well enough so that i can work next to him. Its really nice having him home though. He keeps me company and is "supposed" to critique my work, ajaja but he never has anything negative to say about it. So, i ask my kids, they're brutally honest & that is what helps me.

In my earlier post, I was crushed, I didn't think I would be participating in the San Felipe de Neri, Santero show. Well, I WILL be participating!! I am ecstatic and oober inspired working on new Santero pieces.
I use some of my favorite saints every year with a new twist each time. Of course the Blessed Mother is one, San Pasqual patron saint of kitchens and cooks and Santa Marta another patron saint of Kitchens and cooks. To choose which other saints I choose, I read different life stories of the saints and when one hits me, I go with it, paint it and try and incorporate their story into my work.
I post a lot of my work completions as well as work in progress' on my Facebook fan page.

Lonesome Road Blues

For Sale
~Yellow Calavera~
Acrylic on Canvas

Headed down a new road here in art land. I was accepted into Tucson, Arizona's 4th Ave. Street Fair for the month of Dec. My whole family LOVES this Tucson show, but the expense of  the booth is too rich for my blood this year. I'm really heartbroken that I also did not have the fee to participate in Alb. San Felipe's Santero show in Oct. I am taking a different road than my beloved fellow artists and it sucks not being able to travel and visit with them, but life takes us down different roads all the time.
I have some plans up my sleeve. I lined up another show in Dec. a small local show and I have high hopes. I am also looking into taking some classes to finish a degree i once started. I will still be participating in Santa Fe's Contemporary Hispanic Market in July and a new Dia de Los Muertos show in El Paso, this show should be super wicked fun AND I can see my awesome fellow artists there. I will also have some work at a few galleries here in NM and Colorado. I will update the names when I submit the work.

First of the Series for Sale Only $35
Type "SOLD" on my FaceBook fan page post.

I am getting ready to put some smaller work up for sale.
Lately, my husband has been having medical complications and those bills keep coming in. I was hoping they would some how magically get paid, but that doesn't happen in real life... does it? This is my main source of income so I rely on every penny.

Stay tuned for colorful original work for sale...

I will dropping off a large piece for the very awesome AZ/NM 2nd annual art show that will be held in Albuquerque this year. If you live in New Mexico or are down this way, make sure and
check it out.

Its been so long since I have blogged.
I really miss blogging and viewing other blogs.
Since I have last posted a lot of life has happened.
Good, bad, Not so bad and not so good and everything in between...
Im going to try and get back to blogging starting today.
I will be posting events in the life of an artist, Mom and wife.
You can also find me on Facebook and follow my fan page at
I will have some pieces available here:

Rat Race..

Getting ready for two shows with only a week in between.
First show Arte de Muerto in Alb. July 10 & 11th
July 17th do something special for my daughters Birthday and the 18th my husband and I will be baptizing my cousins new baby boy (our first God child).
July 24th & 25th is my BIGGEST show Contemporary Hispanic Market in Santa Fe, NM.
With less than two weeks to be ready for the ADM, it has me in a bit of a panic. I think I will just do what I can do and leave it up to fate. I have been working for a while now on my inventory and I'm sure it will all work out.. at least, I hope to have a better set up for my upcoming shows, better than last year.. (fingers crossed)

Working on a black and white series right now as well as my Chola series. I will try to post photos when I get a .... minute to do so?

Who am I, Where am I?...

Sorry to neglect my blog. Since I have become a "FaceBooker" I have created a fan page there and since I am checking my FaceBook everyday it is easier to update there, than it is here on my blog. In fact, I have had to upload my photos to this page around 3 times because I accidentally clicked on backspace or delete and lost my photos. There is no way to retrieve them here, that I know of, so that is frustrating!
Never the less, I really enjoy blogging... when I have time,
which I don't' seem to have much of that these days...

So, since San Antonio I have been busy on different shows. Some great, some not so great at all... Is it me, the economy, the genre of show..? I know things will pick up, but, I also have to pay more attention to the type of show I am participating in. If the show is not focused on Art, neither are the people. When I participate as a vendor at a place not focused on art and I don't sell enough to make my booth money back, it brings me down. It shuts off my inspiration supply and kills my creativity. Instead of loosing my head, I have to step back and see what is different, what am I doing wrong.
And this time I found, it is the events that I am participating in.

So here I am with hardly any sales and empty pockets...
For now anyway.
Thank God, I am an art supply whore and keep extras around!

I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby

My favorite Albuquerque show is Arte de Muerto!
What a great show this past April!!
Not only did I nearly sell out, but, I was the featured artist. If you live in Albuquerque or visit Albuquerque look up the website and find out when the next upcoming show will be, you do NOT want to miss out.
This show has a lot of great works, by very talented artists and it is not limited to, Day of the Dead work.

~My Amarillio Calavera centered on the poster~

All of my prints with this image were sold out, hooray!!!

Both of my daughters had their faces painted to match my other Calaveras from the
Classy Calavera Collection.
The face painters are AMAZING! the photos do the work no justice!
Their faces were painted by Janet Dominguez.

~Pink Calavera~

This photo was taken by Janet Dominguez,
I stole the photo from her!
I had too, its muh baybay!! jajaa...

This is Marq Blackbird from "Ick-Inc."
He got half his face painted with my image, so cool!
Him and his girlfriend are the nicest, fun loving couple ever!
You can find them at the Arte de Muerto shows!

Ooops side ways photo.. A man had a skull cut out of wood and brought it to the show so that the face painter would paint my image on it for him..

After the show there was an artist reception.

And what to my wondering eyes did appear? A cake with my image, I was touched..... tear!

Next upcoming Arte de Muerto show:

Featured artist for this show and owner of this rockin Rockabilly image is
Pamela Enriquez Courts from Las Cruses, NM!!
